Cataloging & Organizing:
At OWC we are experts at organizing collections from 500 bottles to over 20,000 so that our clients know what they have, where it is and most importantly when to drink it.
Cataloging hundreds or thousands of bottles is an arduous task. As a wine collector you obviously know a lot about wine, but cataloging a cellar full of wine takes more than just wine knowledge. At OWC we are not only wine experts but “wine organizing” experts and can quickly and efficiently work our way through any size wine cellar to make sure every bottle is accounted for and cataloged correctly.
We’re also sticklers for organization – you gotta know exactly where each and every bottle is. A big part of our organizational process is discretely labeling the racks with simple codes (A1, Bin 5, etc.) and that information is then put into CellarTracker so our clients can easily find whatever bottle they are looking for. We also organize the cellar by the wine itself starting with Type (red, white, sparkling, etc.) and then we break it down by Country, Region, Varietal and Producer.
After we’re done in your cellar you’ll be able to easily add and remove wines with your phone or laptop - we can even bar code all your bottles for even quicker removal. You’ll also know what your collection is worth and be able to provide that information to your insurance company.
Liquidation & Acquisition:
Invariably a wine collector’s taste will change – the love for California cabernet has become a love for Left Bank Bordeaux and the early fascination with California pinot noir has lead you to Burgundy. At OWC we work closely with our clients to develop liquidation and acquisition strategies so that their collections reflect what they are truly passionate about.
Thinking of selling? Through your CellarTracker account we can remotely peruse your collection and make knowledgeable recommendations on wines to sell based on quantity, taste, value, drinking windows, etc.
Acquiring special wines for our clients is something we specialize in. Whether its birth year wines for you or your children, Grand Cru Burgundy, First Growth Bordeaux or anything in between; we work our extensive network to find those special and rare bottles to round out your collection.
Storage Facilitation:
Sometimes collectors simply run out of room or they need to temporarily store their wine because of a move. OWC will come to your home and catalog all of your wine, partner with a reputable, temperature controlled wine storage facility, box up your collection for safe transport and even drive the collection to the facility.
Moving of any sort is an arduous task – moving a wine cellar complicates matters even further. OWC makes moving your collection to a new cellar pain free. We’ll get the boxes, catalog everything and box it up safely for transport. We’ll arrange for refrigerated transport (or drive it ourselves) to your new home and ensure it arrives safely and securely. Once in the new cellar we’ll unbox everything and organize it so you know what you have, where it is and most importantly, when to drink it.
Designing:
At OWC we may not swing a hammer and have the ability to build you a wine cellar, but we can certainly help you design the cellar of your dreams. OWC will work with your architect/design build firm to ensure that the room and racking match not only your aesthetic, but your collecting needs as well. We have been in many, many cellars and know first-hand what works, and what doesn’t.
